Added

  • Added the Void Chest, the new top tier after Glass. It holds 45 double chests plus one single chest (2,457 slots), plus its usual 27-slot physical inventory. It has the Glass Chest's shape, with large panes of animated end-portal void and depth inside the lid and floor.
  • Added the Void Heart recipe. Put a Glass Chest in the centre with shulker shells in the corners, nether stars above and below, and Dragon's Breath on the sides. Upgrading keeps every item, name, icon and the chest's auto-sort filter.
  • The Void Chest menu shows only its 46 chests, each with how full it is. Keyboard, mouse and controller players get all of them on one page. Phone and tablet players get a seven-column grid on two pages: Next page sits on the bottom row of page 1, and Back on the first empty row of page 2. Crouch-interact still opens the physical inventory.
  • Added the Jack-in-the-Box Chest, an administrator-issued Halloween chest (/gch give <player> jack). It starts as a Double Chest, upgrades through every tier, and keeps its weathered toy-box look and name forever.
  • When anyone opens a Jack-in-the-Box, nearby players see the crank turn, the flaps burst open and the pumpkin-headed jack spring up and sway until it closes. It uses the vanilla chest sounds. The jack's carved face flickers like candlelight.
  • Redstone pops the Jack-in-the-Box silently without opening it. Use a lever, button, pressure plate, dust or a powered block beside it. The jack drops back in when the power stops.
  • Added the Christmas Toy Chest, an administrator-issued Christmas chest (/gch give <player> christmas) with the same rules as the Jack-in-the-Box. It's a red toy chest with a green lid and a big bow, wrapped in garland with coloured string lights that twinkle in a chase.
  • When anyone opens the Christmas Toy Chest, nearby players see the lid swing up and a decorated tree spring out on a brass spring, its star lit, swaying until the chest closes. Redstone opens it the same way, silently.
  • Added vouchers for every command-only item: the Jack-in-the-Box and Christmas chests, the Chest Wrench, the Display Remote and the Sorting Core. Right-click a voucher in the air or on a block and it turns into its item in your hand, even with a full inventory. Vouchers don't stack and carry no chest identity, so they're safe loot-crate prizes. /gch givevoucher <player> <kind> [amount] gives them.
  • Added the recipes.void-chest.use-end-crystals setting (default false), which swaps the Dragon's Breath for End Crystals, plus jack-in-the-box.redstone and christmas-chest.redstone (default true). All apply with /gch reload.
  • Added a redstone cooldown for the holiday chests, so flicking a lever can't spam the animation. After the power goes off, a chest waits 2.5 seconds before redstone can pop it again; power that comes back on sooner waits, then pops if it's still on. Set it with jack-in-the-box.redstone-cooldown-seconds and christmas-chest.redstone-cooldown-seconds.
  • Added the grimschests.redeem permission for vouchers (everyone by default).
  • /gch give <player> void gives a Void Chest, and /gch give <player> <tier> <jack|christmas> gives a holiday look on any storage tier.
  • From 0.3.2: one auto-sort filter for the whole chest. The filter in chest settings now controls every unlocked sub-chest, so a Glass Chest accepts matching items across all nine double chests, 486 virtual slots. Set it directly with /gch filter <category[,category]|none|remaining|exact>.

Changed

  • Chest settings list sub-chests nine per page (five on touch), with page buttons, so every Void Chest sub-chest can be renamed and given an icon.
  • Every chest makes the vanilla chest open and close sounds when a player's menu or sub-chest opens or closes it. The physical inventory keeps the chest block's own sound, so you never hear it twice.
  • Bedrock needs one mapping file. grims_chests.json now holds every Grims Chests mapping, including all three new chests.
  • The 0.4.0 asset pack replaces the 0.3.0 pack. Every earlier chest looks the same.
  • Grims Client Checker is now optional. With it, phone and tablet players get touch menus and can choose with /gcc menu chests mobile, classic or auto. Without it, everyone gets the standard menus.
  • From 0.3.2: sorting fills sub-chests in order and carries the overflow into the next sub-chest, then into another matching linked chest. The physical 27 slots stay out of it. Sub-chests keep their own names and icons, while the rule is set once for the whole chest. A chest with one old rule is promoted automatically, and a chest with conflicting rules shows a review notice until a manager picks one.

Fixed

  • Android and iPhone players get touch chest menus again, instead of the PC menus.
  • From 0.3.2: choosing a sorting rule no longer limits a chest to one 54-slot sub-chest.

Removed

  • Removed the five old Geyser mapping files: grims_chests_wooden.json, grims_chests_tiers.json, grims_chests_emerald.json, grims_chests_sorter.json and grims_chests_tools.json. Delete them, and the 0.3.0 chest .mcpack, when you install 0.4.0.
