Familiar fishing, much deeper waters

Grims Nilla Fishin’ expands Minecraft fishing without replacing the part that already works. Cast with an ordinary rod for familiar catches, then work toward copper and iron rods that open progressively rarer parts of a 125-species fish catalog.

Where the hook lands matters. Rivers, swamps, coasts, warm reefs, frozen waters, and deep oceans hold different fish. Time, weather, moon phase, rod tier, and equipped tackle can all shape what is eligible to bite.

Bait on the hook

Copper and iron rods can carry bait or a lure. Nightcrawlers, Glow Grubs, spinners, poppers, and spoons favor different groups of eligible fish without guaranteeing a catch or bypassing their habitat.

The same gear is presented across Java, Bedrock, and touch/mobile clients, with native touch forms available through the EGW client-checking system.

Traps that share the water

Place a baited fish trap in source water and return later to collect Common and Uncommon catches. Larger trap tiers add storage, while the shared local fish population keeps a crowded trap field from creating unlimited stock. Traps pause when their area is unloaded, full, unbaited, or out of suitable water.

Players can develop four fishing skills:

  • Baiting Hands conserves bait and lures.
  • Trapcraft unlocks larger trap recipes.
  • Trophy Angler improves exceptional active catches.
  • Water Reading reveals more information in the fishing diary.

The diary records species, catch counts, personal-best weights, and first-catch details. Spare fish can be sold through the fishing shop using the server’s regular economy or separate Fishing Coins.
