Grims Player Shops lets you build real storefronts from chests and signs, sell several products from one location, hire helpers, and rent out rooms or market stalls. Java and Bedrock players use the same shops. This guide covers 0.4.0 with its default settings; your server may change limits, distances, and prices.
Player wiki
Creating a Shop
- Place a chest.
- Attach a sign to it.
- Write
[Shop]on the first line, and a shop name on the second if you want one.
[Shop]
Optional Shop Name
Leaving the name blank creates <Your Name>'s Shop.
New shops start closed, so you have time to add products and stock before opening.
Shops must normally be at least 10 blocks from another player's shop. You can build closer to a shop you own or help run.
- Real chests and signs
- Several products per shop
- Linked stock storage
- Drop chests
- Helpers with commission
- Rental stalls
Opening the menus
- Interact with the chest or sign to open the storefront.
- Sneak and interact to open management if you own the shop or help run it. Owners and helpers also see a Manage button in the storefront.
- Phones and tablets get touch-friendly forms automatically.
- Java, PC, and console players get the regular inventory menus.
To pick your menus yourself, use /gcc menu playershop mobile, classic, or auto. See Crossplay Support.

Adding Products
- Select Add Product.
- Choose the item and bundle amount.
- Select Next.
- Set the bundle price.
- Confirm the product.
The amount you choose becomes one purchasable bundle:
- One diamond for $50 means $50 per diamond.
- A stack of 64 blocks for $500 means $500 per stack.
On touch forms. Hold the item first, then choose one item, the full held amount, or a custom amount. The item is only taken when you press Confirm. Closing the form, disconnecting, or swapping the held item never uses it up.
Potions, enchanted books, and gear
Most items get one listing per shop. Items that don't stack (potions, enchanted books, weapons, armor, and tools) and tipped arrows can have one listing for each exact variant:
- A Potion of Swiftness and a Potion of Healing are separate products.
- Two enchanted books with different enchantments are separate products.
- An enchanted sword can be listed next to a plain one.
Every item keeps its exact details. Potion effects show in the product description with their level and duration, for example Swiftness II (1:30). Touch forms list effects, enchantments, and durability as text.
Each variant counts as one product toward your shop's product limit, normally 12.

Managing Products
Select a listed product to:
- Change its regular price.
- Apply a product-specific sale.
- Use or ignore the shop-wide sale.
- Stop selling it and leave its stock stored.
- Stop selling it and take its remaining stock. This only works when you have room for every item.
Storefront pages continue automatically when the shop has more products than one page can show.

Stock & Storage
Your original shop chest is the main stock container.
Linking extra storage
- Open management and choose Extra Stock Storage.
- Choose Add Extra Storage.
- Open a nearby chest or barrel within 30 seconds.
Linked storage must be within 5 blocks of the shop. It gets a protected [Stock] sign. A shop links up to 3 stock chests by default.
The storefront combines matching stock from every linked container and shows how many complete bundles are available.
Owners and helpers with stock access can deposit merchandise and use Withdraw Shop Stock to take it back out. Be careful: stock access allows both.

Drop Chests & Virtual Stock
Potions, enchanted books, weapons, armor, and tools don't stack, so normally each one fills a whole chest slot. A drop chest fixes that. Put those items in it, and identical copies share one slot of your shop's stock.
Ten identical potions take one chest slot. Each slot holds up to 64 identical items by default.
Setting up a drop chest
- Place a chest or barrel within 5 blocks of your shop.
- Attach a wall sign to its side with
[Drop]on the first line. The sign changes to read Not linked. - Open your shop's management menu and choose Extra Stock Storage.
- Choose Add Extra Storage, then open the drop chest within 30 seconds.
The sign now shows your shop's name and Linked. Each shop gets 1 drop chest by default. Drop chests don't count toward your stock chest limit. Rental shops and admin shops don't use drop chests.
How sorting works
Put items in the drop chest and close it. When the last person closes it, the shop sorts what's inside.
| Case | What happens |
|---|---|
| New item | The first copy moves into a free slot of your shop chest or stock chests. |
| More copies | They're counted on that slot as virtual stock, up to 64 per slot. |
| Slot full | The next copy takes another free slot and starts a new count. |
| Stackable items | Stone, food, arrows, and so on stay in the drop chest. Put those straight into your shop or stock chests. |
Copies only count together when they match exactly: the same effects, enchantments, attribute modifiers, name, and durability. A Sharpness V sword and a Sharpness IV sword are sorted separately, as are a new pickaxe and a worn one.
A chat message reports what was sorted, for example Sorted 12 item(s) into Grim's Shop (11 virtual, 1 in chest slots). If your chests have no free slot left, the extra items stay in the drop chest and you're told how many. Link another stock chest or clear some space, then open and close the drop chest again.
Checking your stock
You don't need a listing first. Anything sorted into your stock can be listed later, and the listing picks up every copy.
Product descriptions show the Total stock across real and virtual items. In management views and Withdraw Shop Stock, a Held virtually line shows how many of that total are counted rather than sitting in a chest. That's how you check your stock at a glance.
Virtual copies go first. They are sold and withdrawn before the real item in the chest slot. Withdrawn copies arrive as normal items with every effect and enchantment intact.
Removing a drop chest
Open Extra Stock Storage, select the drop chest, and choose Stop Using This Drop Chest. Anything still inside stays there, and your virtual stock stays with the shop. The sign goes back to Not linked, so you can link it again or break it.
Protected while linked. A linked drop chest and its sign can't be broken until you unlink them. Only the owner, helpers with stock access, and staff can open a drop chest.

Running Your Shop
Opening, closing, and sales
Use the management menu to open or close your shop.
- Open: customers can buy products.
- Closed: customers can browse but can't buy. You can still stock and manage the shop.
You can also run a percentage-off sale across the whole shop. Each product can use the shop-wide sale, ignore it, or use its own discount. A 25% sale changes a $100 product to $75. The storefront shows the regular price, the discount, and what the customer pays.
Renaming a shop
Choose Rename Shop, then edit the shop sign within 30 seconds. If you don't use the sign in time, renaming is cancelled and the shop stays as it was.
Helpers
Open the shop's management menu first, then use:
/gs helper add <player>/gs helper remove <player>After adding someone, open Shop Helpers to choose what they may do:
- Handle stock, including opening drop chests
- Manage products
- Change prices and sales
- Link extra storage and drop chests
- Manage rental stalls, when applicable
You can also give a helper a sales commission. Commissions can't total more than 100%, and the owner receives the rest. Each shop allows two helpers by default. Your server may grant more.
Deleting a shop
Breaking the shop sign doesn't destroy the shop right away. The break is cancelled and a confirmation screen opens. Only its Delete button removes the shop.
Deleting a shop removes its registration but leaves merchandise in its containers. Virtual stock turns back into real items in the shop and stock chests first.
If your chests don't have room for all of your virtual stock, deletion is refused and you're told how many items are waiting. Withdraw some stock or link another chest, then try again. Nothing is lost.

Rental Shops
Rental shops let owners rent out rooms, market stalls, and other spaces for real-world time.
As a renter you can:
- Review the price, lease length, and whether the space is furnished.
- Confirm and pay for an available space.
- Use doors, trapdoors, and everything the lease allows.
- Renew an active lease.
- Turn on auto-renew when the lease qualifies.
Lease payments are nonrefundable. The first player whose payment completes gets the space.
Furnished and unfurnished
Every stall is listed as one or the other, and the listing tells you which before you pay.
| You may | Unfurnished | Furnished |
|---|---|---|
| Open chests, barrels, and other containers | Yes | Yes |
| Use doors, workstations, beds, and armor stands | Yes | Yes |
| Place and break blocks, including the floor layer | Yes | No |
| Fill or empty buckets | Yes | No |
| Place or break item frames, paintings, and armor stands | Yes | No |
A furnished space is for owners who decorate a stall and want renters to use it without tearing it apart. If you try to build in one, you'll see: This rental is furnished: you can use everything inside, but not place or break blocks.
Renewals
Renewing adds time to your current paid-through date instead of starting over. A lease can run up to one year ahead. Before you're charged, a confirmation shows the old date, the time being added, and the new date.
If the owner changes the price, length, or furnishing, your current paid lease doesn't change. The stall shows both your lease and the next term. You must review and accept the new terms before your next renewal.
Auto-renew:
- Must be allowed by the property owner.
- Must also be turned on by the renter.
- Isn't available for rentals shorter than seven days.
- Normally charges three days before your lease ends.
- Never accepts changed terms for you, including a switch between furnished and unfurnished.
End of lease
When the paid time ends, a grace period begins, normally 24 hours plus a final safety hour.
- Unfurnished: you can remove your belongings, but you can't place new blocks.
- Furnished: you can still open containers to collect your things.
After grace ends, anything left inside belongs to the property owner.

Crossplay Support
Java and Bedrock players can own shops, rent spaces, receive payments, and manage helpers the same way. Linked Java and Bedrock accounts keep one identity for shops and leases.
Grims Player Shops asks Grims Client Checker which menus you should get:
- Phones and tablets get touch forms for buying, prices, sales, stock, drop chests, helpers, and rentals. With a controller connected, they get the inventory menus.
- Console and PC Bedrock players keep the standard inventory menus.
- Java players always use the inventory menus.
To choose yourself:
/gcc menu playershop mobile/gcc menu playershop classic/gcc menu playershop autoYour choice is saved across logins, devices, and restarts. /gcc menu playershop shows the menus you're getting now. /gcc menu mobile without playershop sets every Grims plugin at once.
Touch forms need a Bedrock connection, so Java always gets the inventory menus.
