What's new in 1.2.0
- Minecraft 26.3. This is 1.1.0 ported to Minecraft Java 26.3 (resource pack format 97.1). The items, ids,
looks, stats, recipes and effects are the same as 1.1.0's, the Little Green Man, the Glow-Ray and the toy Lighter Saber blade included.
- Requires Paper 26.3 and Packforge 0.2.0 or newer. Add Geyser 2.12.0 or newer for Bedrock players and BladeFX for the toys’ projectiles and visuals.
- On a Minecraft 26.2 server keep 1.1.0. The 26.2 build is in the 26.2 archive
(archive/minecraft-26.2-content/packs/GrimsSpaceCadet-Complete-1.1.0.zip).
- Bedrock players get the new pack because its version changed. On the server, delete the older Space Cadet
mcpack from Geyser's packs folder before copying this one in (INSTALL.md).
A goofy, laid-back armour set for Java and Bedrock (through Geyser): the Space Cadet, permanently in orbit. A hazy bubble helmet, a puffy space suit with a lava-lamp jetpack, snack-stuffed lounge pants, fuzzy moon loafers (lime or pink), a lounge skirt, the Lighter Saber, and the Snack-a-Pult: a goofy ray gun that chucks donuts and bags of chips.
Every piece is netherite tier: netherite's armour (helmet 3, suit 8, pants or skirt 6, loafers 3), armour toughness 3 and extra knockback resistance (0.25 per piece: the full set shrugs off all knockback), netherite's durability (407, 592, 555, 481), it survives fire and lava like netherite, and it wears down as you take hits. The armour lines show in the tooltip. Extra, built in: the helmet's air lasts longer underwater (oxygen bonus 1), the suit burns half as long (burning time -50%), and the loafers triple the safe fall (9 blocks before fall damage, not 3).
Crafted at the crafting table (configs/spacecadet_recipes.yml). The armour and the saber fill every slot: netherite blocks in each piece's armour shape and echo shards in every other slot. The helmet has a glass block in the very middle and echo shards across the bottom. The Lighter Saber is two beacons on a stick, with echo shards round it. The colour: all shards makes Classic Silver; a purple dye in place of the marked shard makes Cosmic Purple, a pink dye makes Tie-Dye. The saber takes a red, blue or green dye in the bottom-left slot. The Snack-a-Pult is three echo shards across the top (the hopper), a netherite block either side of a dispenser, and a stick under the dispenser, with the two bottom corners left empty.
The loafers come lime or pink: the Moon Loafers (lime) belong with the pants, the Pink Moon Loafers with the skirt. The pink ones are crafted like the lime ones with a pink dye in the top-left corner; the colour slot stays in the top middle, so the Tie-Dye pair takes two pink dyes. Either pair goes with the pants or the skirt: mix and match.
With GrimsBladeFX, the full set (any colours, pants or skirt) is immune to harmful effects (poison, wither and the rest) and halves environmental damage (fire, lava, drowning, cactus and the like). It does not soften attacks from mobs or players. Without the plugin the armour is still netherite-strong, with the built-in extras.
The Snack-a-Pult needs GrimsBladeFX to fire: each right-click lobs a donut or a bag of chips (by default 4 damage and a small knockback on a hit, a crunch and a few crumbs). Crouch and right-click to share instead: a crouch shot throws only donuts, which hurt nothing and push nothing, and with Grims Crops 0.15.5 or newer another player it hits gets a Grims Crops Pink Donut (one gift per shooter every 5 minutes). Every donut, from either shot, kills a pig, piglin, piglin brute, zombified piglin, hoglin or zoglin in one hit; a named, saddled or ridden one is spared. Then it reloads: one shot every 6 seconds per player by default (the normal and the crouch shot share it), shown as the grey cooldown sweep on the launcher's hotbar slot on both editions. It needs no ammo, and shooting never costs durability. Java players see the 3D snack fly; Bedrock players see the snack's icon spin through the air. The snacks (egw_spacecadet:snack_donut, egw_spacecadet:snack_chips) are the projectile's looks, not survival items: they have no recipe. Without the plugin the Snack-a-Pult does nothing.
Server owners: the cooldown is one number, the seconds on the cooldown: line of the snackapult_shot preset (the line marked THE SNACK-A-PULT COOLDOWN IS SET HERE) in GrimsBladeFX's effects/egw_spacecadet.yml (6 by default). Change it and run /gbladefx reload: the real cooldown and the hotbar sweep follow on Java and Bedrock, with no pack rebuild. The pack's item only names the cooldown group (egw_spacecadet:snackapult), so never set the length in the pack.
The set is unisex. The skirt is its own set, an option for anyone: wear it in place of the pants, with its own Pink Moon Loafers or the lime ones.
Java shows the 3D helmet and the painted suit. Bedrock shows the same and adds 3D extras; anything that moves (the antenna's bobble, the skirt's panels) moves only while you move, never on its own. The small glow accents and the saber's blade glow on Bedrock; on Java the helmet's accent and the blade glow too, and the suit's accent glows with the Entity Texture Features mod. The helmet's glass is see-through smoke on Java; Bedrock has no see-through material for items, so there the smoke is solid with clear gaps.
The Little Green Man is the pack's second armour set: a B-movie spaceman. A big green alien head with huge glossy black eyes (their catch-lights glow), a mirror-chrome flight suit with a flying-saucer badge and bare green hands, chrome pants with a crop circle on each thigh, and chrome flight boots. It has one look, the same netherite numbers and built-in extras, and no bonus of its own: it is a costume, and Space Cadet pieces worn with it do not make a full Space Cadet. Its recipes are the Space Cadet pieces' shapes with a green dye in the marked slot and one alien ingredient: an eye of ender in the middle of the mask, a phantom membrane in the suit, wheat in the pants and two feathers in the boots.
Its ray gun, the Glow-Ray, needs GrimsBladeFX 1.0.0 or newer to fire: each right-click fires a fast green bolt (about 27 blocks before it fizzles). A bolt that hits a player or a mob deals 4 damage by default (two hearts, the same as a Snack-a-Pult snack) and tags it: the target glows for 5 seconds, with a burst of green sparkles. The bolt adds no push of its own: the target gets only vanilla's usual hit nudge, like a punch, and a full Little Green Man or Space Cadet set is not moved at all. Java players see the glow outline (on a server with TAB teams it takes the team's colour); Bedrock has no glowing effect, so Bedrock players see the sparkles and the bolt's green trail. A raised shield, or a place where the hit is not allowed (no PvP, a claim), stops the tag. One shot every 3 seconds per player by default, shown as the grey cooldown sweep on its hotbar slot on both editions, apart from the Snack-a-Pult's. It needs no ammo, and shooting never costs durability. Java players see the glowing orb fly; Bedrock players see its icon. The bolt (egw_spacecadet:raygun_bolt) is the shot's look, not a survival item: it has no recipe. Without GrimsBladeFX 1.0.0 or newer the Glow-Ray does nothing. It is crafted from an echo shard either side of a green dye across the top, a netherite block either side of a glow ink sac, and a stick under the glow ink sac, with the two bottom corners left empty.
Server owners: the Glow-Ray's wait is the seconds on its cooldown: line (the line marked THE GLOW-RAY COOLDOWN IS SET HERE) in GrimsBladeFX's effects/egw_spacecadet.yml (3 by default), and how long a tag glows is the seconds of its glowing effect (5 by default). Change them and run /gbladefx reload. The pack's item only names the cooldown group (egw_spacecadet:raygun). GrimsBladeFX 1.0.0 adds the Glow-Ray to an unedited older copy of that file by itself (the old copy kept as a .bak); an edited copy is kept as it is (the server log says effects.upgrade_skipped), and then the Glow-Ray fires only once that copy has the alien_raygun entry.

Weapons
Netherite tier: a netherite sword keeps its own attack, every weapon has netherite's durability (2031) and survives fire and lava. A weapon with its own colours (the Lighter Saber's blades) goes with any suit colour.

Crafting
View all 27 recipes with grids and quantities →
The recipe page includes every colour variant, the Little Green Man outfit, all three Lighter Sabers, the Snack-a-Pult and the Glow-Ray.
Who can craft it
Every Space Cadet recipe carries one recipe permission, spacecadet, so you choose who can craft the set:
- Players need
pf.recipe.spacecadetto craft this pack’s recipes.
pf.recipe.*grants recipe permissions for all packs. Use a pack-specific node when you want narrower access.
Without the grant, only operators and wildcard holders can take the result. Grant pf.recipe.spacecadet to the appropriate group. items.open-recipes-without-permission does not bypass an explicit pack permission.
Make it admin-only (no crafting)
Every item with a recipe can be made admin-only: nobody can craft it any more, not even with the recipe permission, and admins still hand it out. Each recipe is named after the item it makes, and each colourway has its own recipe.
- Open
plugins/Packforge/contents/egw_spacecadet/configs/spacecadet_recipes.yml. - Find the item's recipe (for example
spacecadet_snackapult:orspacecadet_saber_red:) and change its
enabled: true to enabled: false. Change nothing else (leave its permission: line as it is).
- Save the file and run
/pf reload.
Admins give it with /pf give <player> egw_spacecadet:<item>. To allow crafting again, set it back to enabled: true and run /pf reload. Installing a newer release replaces the file, so switch the recipes off again after an update.
Packforge servers: the same switch works. Edit Packforge's copy of the file, plugins/Packforge/items/egw_spacecadet/spacecadet_recipes.yml (where /pf move puts it; if you copied the folder straight into Packforge's contents/, edit plugins/Packforge/contents/egw_spacecadet/configs/spacecadet_recipes.yml instead), then run /pf reload. Admins give it with /pf give <player> egw_spacecadet:<item>.
Give: /pf give <player> egw_spacecadet:<id>, for example egw_spacecadet:spacecadet_suit_silver.
Static validation passed (strict converter build, posed clearance, 0 px round trip). Not yet tested in game.
Visual effects dependency
BladeFX requires Packforge and does not work with third-party pack-host plugins. It supplies the configured visuals, custom projectiles and effect-driven abilities. Ordinary armour, clothing and other pack items do not need BladeFX simply to display or be equipped.
