Grims Backyard Toys

Public testing 1.3.0 · Admin guide · Paper 26.3

Summer-afternoon toys: the Bubble Gun, the blower, the chainsaw and the cannon. Needs BladeFX, which is what throws them.

Minecraft 26.3. Needs Minecraft Java 26.3 (resource pack format 97.1) on Paper 26.3, with Packforge 0.2.0 or newer as the content host, Geyser 2.12.0 or newer for Bedrock players, and GrimsBladeFX 1.0.0 or newer. This is the 26.3 port of 1.2.0: the same seven items, item IDs, looks, recipes and effects file. For a Minecraft 26.2 server use 1.2.0, kept in the EGW 26.2 content archive (archive/minecraft-26.2-content/packs/GrimsBackyardToys-Complete-1.2.0.zip). Nothing of 1.3.0 has run in game yet.

GrimsBladeFX 1.0.0 or newer first (its jar into plugins/, in place of the older GrimsBladeFX jar): it is GrimsBladeFX's first 26.3 build (0.9.0 and older are 26.2 builds). It bundles this release's effects file, byte for byte, and runs every toy, the Bubble Gun included.

New in 1.3.0: Minecraft 26.3 only (the README's "What's new in 1.3.0"). Nothing a player sees changes, and the effects file is 1.2.0's (revision 5). Bedrock players download the pack again, because its version changed.

Unpack the Complete ZIP. Locate the named content namespace folder, the Geyser/ and Java/ folders, and the included instructions. Packs with effects also include a GrimsBladeFX/ folder.

  1. Delete the older Backyard pack first: in plugins/Geyser-Spigot/packs/, delete

GrimsBackyardToys-Models-Bedrock-1.2.0.mcpack (and any other older GrimsBackyardToys-Models-Bedrock-*.mcpack). An old pack left behind can win over the new one.

  1. The items, on Packforge (first on 26.3): make the folder plugins/Packforge/drop/GrimsBackyardToys/ and

copy into it the zip's egw_backyard/ folder (so it is drop/GrimsBackyardToys/egw_backyard/), Geyser/packs/GrimsBackyardToys-Models-Bedrock-1.3.0.mcpack and Geyser/custom_mappings/egw_backyard_models.json. Run /pf validate (a dry run that writes nothing), then /pf move (the mcpack and the mapping go to Geyser's folders, the configs to plugins/Packforge/items/egw_backyard/, the art to Packforge's contents/), then /pf zip. If an older release was copied straight into Packforge's contents/ (as plugins/Packforge/contents/egw_backyard/), delete that folder first, or /pf zip reads two copies of this pack side by side (its report names both).

For manual installation in Packforge:

  • egw_backyard/ -> plugins/Packforge/contents/egw_backyard/ (over the old files)
  • Geyser/packs/GrimsBackyardToys-Models-Bedrock-1.3.0.mcpack -> plugins/Geyser-Spigot/packs/
  • Geyser/custom_mappings/*.json -> plugins/Geyser-Spigot/custom_mappings/ (over the old files)
  • then run /pf zip.
  • GrimsBladeFX/effects/egw_backyard.yml -> plugins/GrimsBladeFX/effects/: what every toy does (the Potato Cannon's ammo,

damage, knockback and cooldown, the Leaf Blower, the Kite, the Toy Chainsaw and the Bubble Gun).

  • A copy from 1.2.0 already has every toy: leave it (unedited it is this file; edited it keeps your values).
  • An older copy you never edited: copy this one over it, or leave it: GrimsBladeFX 1.0.0 or newer upgrades it

to this file on the next start or /gbladefx reload (the old one is kept as egw_backyard.yml.0.8.1.bak from 1.1.1, egw_backyard.yml.0.8.0.bak from 1.1.0, or egw_backyard.yml.0.7.1.bak / egw_backyard.yml.0.7.2.bak from 1.0.x).

  • An older copy you edited (the cooldown, say) keeps running your values and has no Bubble Gun (the

console names what this file would add). To take this file, move yours out of effects/ (or copy this one over it), run /gbladefx reload, then make your changes again in the new one.

  1. Restart the server (Geyser reads packs and mappings at start).

Grims Crops tomatoes work as cannon ammo with Grims Crops 0.15.6 or newer (its 26.3 build).

Who can craft: players need the pack's recipe permission, pf.recipe.backyard on Packforge (pf.recipe. / pf.recipe. covers every EGW pack); without it only ops can craft. Grant it to your players' group in LuckPerms. It covers all seven recipes: the five toys and the two kinds of ammo. The Bubble Gun's is G S W / X X R: a wind charge, a slime ball and a water bucket over two empty slots and a redstone (you get the bucket back). The README's "Crafting" says more.

To make a toy admin-only (no crafting), see the README's "Make a toy admin-only (no crafting)": one line per item in the recipes file, plugins/Packforge/items/egw_backyard/backyard_recipes.yml then /pf reload on Packforge. Updating the pack brings that file back with crafting on.

Java/ holds a standalone resource pack for a single-player look (Minecraft 26.3); the server does not need it.
