Grims BladeFX

Public testing 1.0.1 · Player guide · Paper 26.3

Custom projectiles and visual effects for the EGW packs — required by the toy packs, optional elsewhere. Needs Packforge.

The effects engine behind the EGW content packs. BladeFX is what makes the Emberforge Greatsword burn, the Bubble Gun blow bubbles and the Cthulhu set let you breathe.

What it does

Each pack drops one effects file into BladeFX, and the items in that pack come alive:

  • On-hit effects — fire, freeze, potions, shield bashes, the madness the R'lyeh

Feelerblade puts on a player

  • Holder particles — the quiet ambient puff while you hold or wear a piece
  • Set bonuses — wear all four Cthulhu pieces and the deep lets you breathe
  • Launchers — right-click throwers that use their own snacks, or ammo from your

inventory

  • Toys — the Leaf Blower's push, the Toy Chainsaw's fell, the Bubble Gun's bubbles

Without BladeFX the pack items still exist, still craft and still look right. They just sit quiet.

It needs Packforge

BladeFX requires Packforge and does not work with third-party pack-host plugins. It uses Packforge’s item tags and projectile items. Content packs can support other hosts, but BladeFX’s effects and custom projectiles cannot.

Which packs use it, and how much they need it

PackNeeds it?For what
Grims Backyard Toysrequiredthe projectiles are the toys: bubbles, potatoes, water balloons, lawn darts
Grims Space Cadetrequired for the toysthe Glow-Ray, Little Green Zap and Snack-a-Pult; the sabre's blade visuals
EGW Fantasy Packoptionalthe visuals: holder particles, on-hit flare, the Cthulhu set bonus, the Feelerblade's madness

Everything else in the EGW range — Dreadplate, the Armory Pack, the Clothes Pack, Gem Equipment — works with no BladeFX at all.

Numbers are used as written

As of 1.0.1 nothing in an effects file is clamped, raised or quietly adjusted on the way through. A value you write is the value that runs. The one exception is outside the plugin's hands: Minecraft caps potion effect levels, so a Levitation 50 still arrives as Levitation 3.

Gameplay needs the real item

A look-alike item gets the sounds and the particles, and nothing else. The gameplay effects check that the item is genuinely the pack's.
